Foreseenly CashFlow User Manual

Use this quick reference to set up your forecast, understand the chart, keep accounts current, and review bank activity with confidence.

Basics

Foreseenly™ CashFlow is a planning app. It starts with what you know today, then projects upcoming income, bills, transfers, debts, and assets into a forward-looking forecast.

  • Accounts hold balances, plans, and history.
  • Plans are scheduled future items, such as salary, rent, mortgage, savings, or debt payments.
  • Forecasted items are upcoming plan entries. Once processed, they move into past transactions/history.
  • All Accounts combines visible accounts so you can see your overall cash flow or net worth.

Cost & Privacy

Is the app free?

Yes. Foreseenly™ CashFlow is free to use. You may occasionally see an optional prompt to become a supporting member or make a contribution. That support helps keep improving the app and building requested features.

If you make an in-app purchase, tap Restore on the Contributions screen when moving to a new device or reinstalling to avoid contribution prompts.

How is my data handled?

Keeping your financial data yours is a core goal of Foreseenly™ CashFlow. The app is designed for privacy-first planning, the same way the founder built it for personal use.

  • Your forecast data is stored in the app's encrypted database on your device.
  • When you use iCloud backup, sync, sharing, Watch, or widgets, the app uses Apple/iCloud and shared app storage to keep those views current.
  • Passcode or Face ID can protect access to the app on your device.
  • Account sharing controls can hide selected open accounts from other iCloud sharing users.
  • Bank Reconciliation Beta reviews files inside the app and waits for your approval before changing records.
  • The app may collect limited, non-financial product usage signals to improve the experience, such as which features are used or whether a setup step was completed. These signals do not include your account names, balances, transaction titles, bank export contents, or other financial details.

What about AI?

  • Any AI-augmented features inside the app run on your device.
  • QApps will never send your private financial data to a third party or to any AI model outside your device.
  • AI chat or help on support websites, such as QApps Help, is separate from the app and cannot access your on-device app data.

Do not email bank exports or sensitive financial files. Support will never ask you to share them. For privacy or support questions, contact [email protected].

Quick Start

Quick Start (available since version 1.17.0) is the guided first-run setup. It helps you choose useful starter accounts, enter the first balance, add core income and bills, and preview the resulting forecast before saving.

  1. Choose the planning areas that fit your life, such as personal, shared household, business, savings, debt, or assets.
  2. Keep, rename, or remove the suggested accounts before plans are created.
  3. Enter starting balances, income, bills, transfers, and loan details where relevant.
  4. Review the forecast preview, then save the starter setup.
Good to know: If you close Quick Start, your progress is saved. Reopen it from Help. You can hide its add-menu shortcut without deleting data. After Quick Start, use the normal add and edit screens for future changes.

Forecast View

The main screen combines the chart, account switcher, range controls, plan list, history, and add button. Together they answer one question: what may happen to this account over time?

  • Account switcher - tap the account name to focus on one account or All Accounts.
  • Range - switch between shorter and longer forecast windows.
  • Chart - review cash-flow direction, warnings, and balance movement. Supported chart styles include line, bar, and pie-style summaries where available.
  • Plan list - tap a row to edit it, or open the account plans view to see every plan and account stat for the selected account.
  • Calendar and history - review scheduled dates, processed items, and past activity.

Contextual guides can be replayed from Help or Learn More where available. They highlight the chart, account switcher, range control, add button, and account plan views.

Plans & Transactions

A plan is a scheduled income, expense, transfer, loan, or asset activity that drives the forecast. Use the +/- button to add one.

Create or edit a plan

  1. Choose the type: income, expense, loan/debt, asset, or transfer-style plan.
  2. Pick or create the title/category, then enter the amount and account.
  3. Set the schedule: once, daily, weekly, semi-monthly, monthly, yearly, or another supported repeat interval.
  4. Use optional fields for transfer accounts, tax/deductible notes, alerts, manual processing, or labels.
  5. Tap Save. Editing can start a new schedule from a future date without changing older history.

Transfers

Use Transfer only when money also moves between accounts you track, such as checking to savings, checking to credit card, or a mortgage payment reducing a lender account.

  • For an expense, Transfer To is the receiving account.
  • For income, Transfer From is the source account.
  • For a one-time transfer, create a plan that repeats once.

Auto-clear

Auto-clear controls whether a forecasted item processes itself when the due date arrives.

  • Auto-clear on - best for predictable income and bills. The item archives and updates the account balance automatically on the due date.
  • Auto-clear off - best when you want to confirm the real amount or timing before it affects the account balance.

For an overdue manual item, use the available process, clear, or backdate action so the transaction is archived on the correct date.

Tip: swipe a Forecast row and tap Clear to quickly confirm the amount, date, and whether the item should update the account balance.

Filters & Search

Filters help narrow the forecast without changing your data. The current filter experience separates quick one-off filters from saved filters.

  • Temporary Filter - create a one-off unsaved filter for the current account or All Accounts.
  • Saved Filters - apply, edit, rename, or delete reusable filters for the current scope.
  • All Accounts filters can include account selection. Single-account filters already know their account.
  • Search is useful for finding specific plan titles, subtitles, or transactions without building a saved filter.
  • Search Results can help with cleanup: select multiple matching items, then tap Process to clear them together. Review the confirmation carefully, especially when past-due items should keep their original dates.

When a filter is active, the app shows a visible filter indicator. Clear the filter to return to the full forecast.

Loans, Assets & Net Worth

Foreseenly™ CashFlow can forecast debt payoff, asset growth, and net worth by connecting plans, lender accounts, and asset accounts.

Loans and mortgages

  • Create a loan or mortgage plan with payment amount, principal balance, APR, lender account, schedule, and next due date.
  • Use the transfer/lender account so each payment can reduce what you owe.
  • Track escrow as a separate expense so interest and principal stay clear.
  • Record extra principal payments from the relevant lender or account plan view.

Related: Loan or Mortgage Payment Setup, Escrow Payments, and Making an Extra Mortgage or Loan Payment.

Assets and net worth

  • Create asset accounts for property, vehicles, investments, crypto, or other holdings you want to forecast.
  • Set value, currency where supported, growth/appreciation or depreciation rate, start date, and compounding.
  • Use Lien at to connect an asset to the lender account that holds its debt.
  • Use All Accounts with net worth enabled to see assets and debts together.

Bank Reconciliation Beta

Bank Reconciliation Beta will be available starting in version 1.17.1 for users invited to the beta. It reviews a bank export against one open account, suggests matches, additions, ignored rows, and conflicts, then waits for your approval before changing anything.

  1. When the beta is enabled, open the past transactions/history area for an account.
  2. Start Bank Reconciliation Beta and select a bank export file.
  3. Review exact, likely, possible, unmatched, duplicate, and conflict sections.
  4. Choose which suggested matches or new transactions to apply.
  5. Confirm. The app creates a local safety backup before applying reconciliation changes.
Beta note: This is a beta review workflow, not automatic bank import. Use it with exported files you understand, review the balance impact, and send feedback from the reconciliation screens when a format or match looks wrong. To be notified or considered for the beta, email [email protected].

Accounts & Settings

Open Settings from the gear button to adjust app behavior, accounts, categories, backups, sharing, and privacy.

Accounts

  • Rename accounts, change warn limits, reorder the account list, or add new accounts.
  • Close an account to hide it from daily views while keeping its plans, forecasts, balances, and history.
  • Reopen a closed account later from the closed accounts section.
  • Choose which open accounts are hidden from iCloud sharing; hidden shared accounts stay visible to you.

Related: Add Another Account and How to update account balance.

Preferences

  • Set authentication, forecast length, warning defaults, chart style, base currency, and crypto/asset assumptions.
  • Manage income and bill names so forms and Quick Start use clearer suggestions.
  • Export or import data, erase app data, and restart Quick Start after a full erase.

Related: Base Currency, Filters and how to save them, and Export and Import.

Backup, Sync & Sharing

Foreseenly™ CashFlow uses iCloud and local backups to protect your forecast. Automatic backups run in the background, and manual backups are available from Backup & Sync.

  • Restore creates a local copy first so you have a fallback.
  • If you ignore a sync notification, use the ignored backup bar to restore later.
  • For iCloud sharing, open Backup & Sync, use the share button, and send the invite.
  • Sharing is one-way. If two people both edit data, restoring another person's backup replaces your current data instead of merging it.
  • Stop sharing from the backup marked as shared by you.

Keep other devices updated before restoring backups created by a newer app version.

Related: Backup & Sync and iCloud Sharing.

Watch & Widget

The Watch app and Home Screen widget show compact views of your current forecast. Open the iPhone app after major changes so those views stay up to date.

  • Open the iPhone app after major edits, restore, or account changes to refresh Watch and widget data.
  • Use the Watch app for quick account/range checks and manual refresh when needed.
  • If a widget looks stale, open Foreseenly™ CashFlow and let the app refresh it.

Troubleshooting

If you have been using the app for a while and need to fix or check one specific thing, start here.

  • My balance looks wrong - this usually means a transaction was processed with the wrong amount, date, or balance option; a manual item is overdue; or the account balance needs a refresh after edits, restore, or import.
First, check the account's Forecast and Archive/History for the item that likely caused the difference. If a processed transaction affected the balance when it should not have, restore that transaction, process it again from the Forecast, and turn Update Balance? off during processing. If the balance corrects itself, you are done. If it still does not match, use the account +/- balance update to enter the current real-world balance, then contact [email protected] so support can help investigate the pattern.
  • I need to change a bill, income, or loan payment - open the plan, update the amount, schedule, account, or transfer fields, then save from the correct effective date.
  • An item did not process automatically - check whether Auto-clear is off. If the due date has passed, use the available process, clear, or backdate action.
  • I moved money between accounts - use Transfer only when both accounts are tracked in the app; otherwise record it as a normal income or expense.
  • I no longer use an account - close it in Settings instead of deleting it, so its plans, balances, and history remain available.
  • I changed devices or reinstalled - open Backup & Sync, restore the right backup, and tap Restore on the Contributions screen if you made a support purchase to avoid contribution prompts.
  • The Watch or widget looks stale - open Foreseenly™ CashFlow on the iPhone after major edits, account changes, or restore so Watch and widget data refresh.
  • I cannot find Bank Reconciliation Beta - it starts in version 1.17.1 for users invited to the beta. Email [email protected] if you want to be notified or considered.

  • Separate mortgage escrow from principal and interest tracking.
  • Prefer Auto-clear for predictable items and manual processing for items that need review.
